Color fastness

Color fastness is one of the important quality indexes of textiles. The so-called color fastness refers to the degree to which the color of dyed textiles remains firm under the physical and chemical effects, that is, the degree to which the color of dyed textiles is affected by the outside world is called the color fastness. The color fastness is expressed by the color change of the sample after the test and the evaluation grade of the staining degree of the white cloth.

Among various items of color fastness, the most commonly used color fastness at present are color fastness to rubbing, color fastness to perspiration, color fastness to washing, color fastness to light, color fastness to water immersion, color fastness to brushing, color fastness to climate, etc. In real life, which items are to be examined are mainly determined according to the final use of the product. Among them, Perspiration resistance, dry friction resistance and color fastness to water immersion are the items required by the basic safety technical specifications of textiles, and all dyed textiles shall be examined. In addition, the color fastness to saliva should be tested for infant textile products.

The color fastness is generally evaluated by visual inspection, that is, taking the gray sample card as the standard sample, comparing the gray card with the sample under certain light and environmental conditions, to determine the color change of the original sample and the staining degree of the white cloth. Grey card (discoloration and staining respectively) has five fastness levels, namely 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. Level 5 is the best, level 1 is the worst. In each two levels, we need to add another half level, namely 45, 34, 23, 12, so the grey card we use in our daily life is 5 levels and 9 levels, and the result of color fastness evaluation is one of 9 levels. If the color fastness of a ribbon product does not reach the level specified in the standard, then the ribbon product is unqualified.

The following are the  standards that must be met by the strap:

1. The fastness to water washing is above grade 3.5, which has passed the iso105-c01:1989 test standard.

2. The fastness to dry rubbing is above grade 3.5, passing the ISO 105-x12:1993 test standard.

3. The fastness to sunlight is above grade 4, passing the iso105-b02:1994 test standard.
